KATHIE MEDICAL
Ingenuity to protect lives
Kathie Medical develops next-generation smart drainage systems to address the persistent challenges of occlusion and infection.
About
Kathie Medical
Kathie Medical is a MedTech company incubated at École Polytechnique (France). We combine engineering excellence with strong clinical partnerships to tackle one of the most persistent challenges in critical care: keeping drainage safe and reliable.
Our mission is to reduce complications, improve patient outcomes, and empower clinicians with greater confidence in every procedure – while lowering costs for healthcare systems.
Our Vision
At Kathie Medical, we challenge the status quo to bring smarter, safer, and simpler solutions where they are most needed.
Guided by ingenuity and purpose, we aim to make advanced medical technologies accessible to the many, not the few — contributing to the progress of medicine, starting where the needs are greatest and expanding everywhere our innovations can make a difference.
The Challenge
Up to 30%
of drainage catheters become obstructed.
+1 000 000
patients require life-saving drainage each year.
~10%
mortality rate in case of catheter occlusion*.
*J Neurosurg 2022; Neurosurg Rev 2023
+100 000$
cost of a severe infection
for a hospital.
Our Solution
The world's first single-use smart drainage system.
Next-generation
catheter
Next-generation catheter, featuring optimized proximal openings designed to reduce particle and cell adhesion. By ensuring a significantly shorter residence time of fluid and debris within the catheter compared to current designs, it helps minimize the risk of occlusion and infection.
Remote Monitoring
Sensor
Passive implantable sensor designed to characterize fluid flow within the catheter and provide remote patient monitoring, helping to prevent unnecessary re-interventions and anticipate complications.
Applicable to multiple indications: brain, liver, peritoneum, etc.
Team
A seasonef team uniting Techn, Business & Clinical.
Co-founding team:
Supported by a global network of advisors, clinicians, and regulatory experts in the US and Europe.
